BestStudentHousing (“we”, “us”) operates a free directory and matching service that connects students with off-campus landlords. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We do not charge students, and we never collect deposits or payments.

When you submit a housing request, we collect:

• Your name and email address
• Your phone number (optional)
• The university you searched and your preferences (move-in term, budget range, furnishing, and living arrangement)

If you create a landlord account, we collect your account details through our authentication provider and the property listings you publish. We also collect basic technical data (such as IP address) to operate the service securely and prevent abuse.

• To match your housing request with landlords who cover your campus and to let those landlords contact you directly
• To operate, secure, and improve the service
• To send you service-related messages (for example, confirming your request or notifying a matched landlord)

The core purpose of the service is to share your housing request with matched landlords so they can reach out to you. Aside from that, we share information only with service providers who help us run the platform:

• Authentication and account management (Clerk)
• Hosting and database infrastructure (Railway)
• Transactional email delivery (Resend)

We do not sell your personal information.Pages you reach after submitting a request may include affiliate links to third-party services (such as renter’s insurance or furniture rental); those third parties have their own privacy policies.

We use cookies that are necessary to run the service — keeping you signed in, remembering your language, and protecting against abuse. Affiliate links you choose to click may set their own cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

We keep your information for as long as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations, and we use reasonable measures to protect it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us. International students: our services are operated from the United States, and your information is processed there.
